Matthew Hooper
Founder, Managing Director Argyle Beverages
Matthew Hooper is a dynamic business leader with deep roots in the wine and beverage industry, and a proven track record of building successful ventures. He began his career in 1987 at Edward Snell working on the bottling, loading and unloading containers shipping containers and delivering the stock to various customers. In 1998 he ventured into viticulture before progressing into winery operations, gaining hands-on experience at a number of prestigious estates in Africa. He later relocated to Australia, where he expanded his expertise and developed a strong global perspective.
In 2003, Matthew founded VAF Memstar, which has since grown to become the clear market leader in wine filtration services in Australia and around the world. Following the acquisition of Memlo by VA Filtration in 2013, Matthew took on the role of Managing Director of both companies — delivering a combined offering that has continued to raise the standard for Australian winemakers.
As the founder of Argyle Beverages, Matthew now brings his entrepreneurial expertise, industry insight, and commercial leadership to the premium spirits category. His passion for building brands, developing strong business networks, and driving market growth is instrumental in Argyle’s expansion across the globe.

Dave Hooper
Director Argyle Beverages
Dave Hooper is the current President of Edward Snell & Co., Africa’s largest independent wine and spirits company — and one of the oldest liquor businesses on the continent. A proud descendant of a family legacy that began over 175 years ago, Dave represents the fifth generation of Hoopers to lead the business.
Guided by a deep respect for heritage and a commitment to innovation, Dave has steered Edward Snell & Co. through a rapidly evolving spirits landscape. Under his leadership, the company continues to expand its footprint across Africa, investing in cutting-edge technology, building a future-focused workforce, and driving sustainable growth — all while remaining true to the values that have defined the business for generations: integrity, quality, respect, and a fierce love for its brands.
In addition to his role at Edward Snell, Dave is also a Director at Argyle Beverages, where his international experience and commercial insight support the company’s ambition to grow a world-class portfolio of owned and agency liquor brands across Asia-Pacific markets.
Dave is a passionate advocate for family business values, industry progress, and long-term partnerships — blending tradition with forward-thinking leadership to build lasting impact for the global liquor trade.
Vania Martins-Fouche
Director Strategy & Growth Argyle Beverages
Vania brings over 20 years of experience in the liquor industry, having worked with leading global brands across South America, Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. Her career spans senior roles in sales, marketing, and commercial strategy, where she’s built trusted partnerships and driven growth across multiple international markets.
An accomplished senior leader, Vania is known for her ability to guide and inspire high-performing teams through hands-on coaching, training, and authentic leadership. She has a proven track record within top-tier FMCG companies, where she has led change, cultivated customer relationships, and delivered sustainable commercial results.
Vania’s core strengths include strategic planning, financial management, and brand development. She excels at identifying growth opportunities, making sound commercial decisions, and implementing tactical plans that align with broader business objectives. Her ability to foster strategic networks and drive continuous improvement has made her a trusted partner across the industry.
As the director of strategy and growth for Argyle Beverages, Vania blends her corporate expertise with entrepreneurial grit — leading the development of a premium portfolio of owned and agency brands. Cocktail Recipes
Milk Punch
- 50ml Navigator Reserve Whisky
- 1 cup full cream milk
- 1 tsp powdered sugar
- Ice
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a rocks glass, and garnish with a light dusting of nutmeg or cinnamon.
Gold Rush
Ingredients:
- 50ml Navigator Reserve Whisky
- 20ml fresh lemon juice
- 15ml honey syrup (1:1 honey + warm water)
- Lemon peel
Shake with ice, strain into an old-fashioned glass over fresh ice, and garnish with a lemon twist.
Coastal Collins
Ingredients:
- 50ml Aqua Solis Gin
- 25ml lemon juice
- 15ml sugar syrup
- Soda water
- Cucumber ribbon & mint to garnish
Shake gin, lemon juice, and syrup with ice. Strain into a tall glass over ice, top with soda water, and garnish.
Solis Negroni
Ingredients:
- 30ml Aqua Solis Gin
- 30ml sweet vermouth
- 30ml Aperitivo (like Campari)
- Orange slice
Stir over ice in a mixing glass, strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice, and garnish with an orange slice.
Outback Mule
Ingredients:
- 50ml Southern Pure Vodka
- 20ml lime juice
- Ginger beer
- Lime wedge & fresh mint
Build in a copper mug over ice, top with ginger beer, stir gently, and garnish.
Southern Citrus Martini
Ingredients:
- 60ml Southern Pure Vodka
- 20ml triple sec or orange liqueur
- 15ml lemon juice
- Lemon twist
Shake with ice, strain into a chilled martini glass, garnish with lemon zest.
